Harvesters are large, automated vehicles used to collect ore. Each six-wheeled vehicle has a large hydraulically operated basin that holds the ore collected by an equally large articulated scoop on the front of the vehicle. Vehicle hulls are coated with a reflective material to reduce solar heating.
The vehicles use a simple AI for navigation and pathfinding, controlled from a central location at the plant. If necessary, navigation of the vehicles can be conducted manually from central control as well.
Sanchez Aluminum uses four harvesters to collect anorthite ore from the rocks in the Moltke Foothills on the Moon. The harvesters collect rocks until their basin is full then return to the smelting plant to deposit their load, and recharge. Once recharged the vehicles head out to collect more ore.
